The proposed two storey side extension, due to the insufficient set in from the common boundary / the insufficient amount of setback from the front wall of the main house, would create a terracing effect within the street scene, which would result in a loss of 'sky factor' between the dwellings to the detriment of visual amenity and the character of the area.. The development would not therefore convey sensitive consideration of its surroundings which is contrary to Policy DM1(A) of the South Tyneside Local Development Framework.
